With many years of experience as a costume maker and designer before transitioning into physical theatre performance and theatre-making, Emilie Largier specialises in movement-led practices, devising techniques, and collaborative creation.

‘I think in images more than words. I’m drawn to absurdity, dark surrealism, and the humour and poetry that emerge from these worlds. I search for doorways into boundless imaginative spaces—places that shift our perception of reality, scale, and gravity. From dance theatre to (micro) film, I am fascinated by the liminal space where their languages collide and expand our sense of narrative. I’m fascinated by sound design, foley, and animation—especially stop-motion. I love crafting auditory illusions, detailed soundscapes, and sensory experiences that invite audiences to fully immerse themselves in the narratives and the world unfolding before them.

When I’m not developing work with hors-champ, I collaborate with other companies as a director, performer, movement director, assistant director or production manager.’
